About
The Vittoria & District Foundation Inc. was established in 1997 to help provide and maintain facilities and programs to enhance the quality of life for residents living in and around Vittoria. The Foundation evolved as a permanent, ongoing tribute to commemorate the camaraderie and community-building accomplishments of Vittoria’s 200th anniversary celebrations in 1996.
The Foundation provides funding assistance to other registered charities, along with the municipality of Norfolk County and local school boards, when determined by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
The Foundation undertakes, participates in, and spearheads worthwhile community projects and activities in Vittoria and the surrounding district, such as an annual student scholarship, heritage projects and fundraisers along with the distribution of Certificates of Congratulations to its residents.
The V&D Foundation Inc. is a registered Canadian charitable organization and provides tax receipts for membership dues, donations, gifts, memorials and bequests.
Since its creation, The Foundation has fostered partnerships with several service organizations to complete significant local projects such as upgrades to the Vittoria Town Hall and the Vittoria & District Community Centre. Some of these partners include: Thompson Memorial Park Committee, Vittoria Firefighters Association, Vittoria Lamport Club, Vittoria Lioness and Lions Clubs, and the Vittoria Women's Institute.
Financially, The Foundation awards an annual post-secondary scholarship and provides assistance and sponsorship to dozens of community groups and organizations. The Foundation has also provided significant contributions to the Norfolk General Hospital. To date, nearly one million dollars has been raised and donated in direct support of the community.
